Word from our CEO

Cheap energy storage – the most wanted technology

In 2010 United Sun Systems (now TEXEL) was formed with the sole mission to combine a solar thermal energy technology with a battery to produce economical viable electricity 24/7/365.
In February 2018, after three years of negotiations and two American Presidents, TEXEL finally signed an exclusive license agreement with one of US Department of Energy’s (DOE) National Laboratories, Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL), on a new unique thermal battery technology tailored to the TEXEL Stirling converter (the engine converting heat, thermal energy, to electricity).

TEXEL Energy Storage solution – 50 to 90% cheaper than existing technologies

The development was done in order to find a solution to store cheap energy for TEXEL’s  thermal solar technology, “The battery dish”. However, the development process meant that TEXEL identified a battery storage solution that could compete on the same terms as existing battery technologies like Lithium-Ion, for large-scale energy storage, up to over 90% cheaper than Lithium-Ion batteries, in some applications.
Among these applications for the TEXEL battery are, renewable energy, such as solar and wind farms, micro grids, grids etc. Thanks of the high energy density of the TEXEL battery, TEXEL also see applications in transport such as; cars, trucks, buses, boats, ferries.

Stor electricity as thermal energy – “electricity to electricity”

To convert electricity, store heat, to be converted back into electricity, is considered to be highly cost effective. Storing heat in a thermochemical solution captures all benefits that traditional electrochemical batteries such as Lithium has, and more. The TEXEL technology does not include any uncommon materials, has a high energy density, does not have any degradation problems, and is close to 100% recyclable. In 2010 TEXEL was founded when purchasing the sole rights to the most developed and effective Stirling Converter in the world. The unique Stirling converter was originally developed by Ford Motors, to be used in cars. The Stirling converter transforms stored heat to electricity.
TEXEL and our shareholders are now beginning a very exciting journey.

Going forward

We will together with US Department of Energy and our other partners prepare the new system for commercialization. The potential market for this technology is almost endless and the future looks bright.
